Yesterday we were brought back to reality of why we are here as Julie & Brendan had their first Doctor’s appointment. That left me with the Kids. As always, when Mom & Dad are at the Doctors they think about Mom being sick and they miss their parents. We started out our morning with a nice long walk through the countryside. We walked amongst corn fields and apple trees. We found a dandelion and Hallie was able to blow off all the leaves and make a wish. Unfortunately, we could not find another one for Jack to save our lives. So here I am on this beautiful walk with one child crying, “I Want to make a Wish.” Apparently Hallie encounters this type of situation often. She quickly found a completely different flower and told Jack this was a special flower that when you keep it in your pocket you get to make as many wishes as you want. This seemed to work and we walked around for a good portion of the day with our Wishing Flower in our pocket. They both wished Mommy would get better soon.

The View from our Walk
At the end of our walk we ended up at this huge flower garden in which you can cut all the flowers you want, you just need to leave some money in a container. It is a sort of “We Trust You” Flower shop. Unfortunately I did see one car stop, but some flowers and leave nothing in the containers. Luckily, I had planned on ending up here and I brought plenty of Francs for just such an occasion. Hallie & Jack picked out a beautiful bouquet of flowers that they wanted to give to our Hostess Christina. They are such sweet kids.
The Flowers they Picked for Christina. They had Lilies, Sun-flowers, and tons of stuff that I have no idea what they are called, but they were beautiful!
We went down to the Water in Geneva at the end of the day. The kids had a bawl and Jack was able to obtain a fake lizard on the end of a long pole. He LOVES it. In fact, as I sit here and type this morning, Hallie & Jack are walking the lizard around the back yard. J Sitting on the board walk in Geneva made for FANTASTIC people watching. I went into one hotel to try and find a bathroom. It was the wealthiest hotel I have ever seen in my life. Apparently this is the time of year when all the Arabs bring their oil money to deposit in Swiss banks. You should have seen the cars and elegance of this hotel.
We also went by the United Nations yesterday. As you can imagine, I enjoyed that. I want to see if they offer any tours. The kids enjoyed running through the water fountains in front of the U.N. Julie, Brendan and I had a bit of debate about a rather large Chair displayed as Art in front of the U.N. I wasn’t very fond of the Chair. In fact, I hated that it was in front of the U.N. Perhaps if I can ever figure out what it means, I might feel differently.
J & B returned from the Doctors feeling good about their visit and the reason we are here. Jules got an injection to make her feel better, but like often happens, it might make you feel worse before you feel better. (Don’t you love the way that works.) So this morning Julie is sleeping in because she doesn’t feel well. Hopefully the “feeling better” part will start to kick in by this afternoon. Today is National Day in Switzerland. It is a huge holiday and everything is shut down. The tradition here is that people gather around Bonfires and celebrate Swiss Independence from Austrian rulers. We plan to join our villages celebration later today!
Just wanted to share this picture of Brendan trying to get out of the car. The cars, and the parking spaces tend to be VERY small here.
