I am serious folks. Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats adjourned the House of Representatives today at 11:30 a.m. to go on their ONE MONTH vacation. Republicans did not want to adjourn without a vote on offshore drilling and energy independence. Once again, Congress goes home with out doing their job.
Right now, as we sit here, the lights are out and Republican members of the House are talking on the floor, complaining about a lack of action on the energy crisis and refusing to go home. They want the Democrats to come back and vote on energy issues. It started small with only a few Republicans, but now they are coming back in droves. Texas Republican Kevin Brady got a standing ovation because he was actually sitting on a plane when he heard what was happening. He got off the plane and dragged his luggage back to the floor of Congress. Visitors in the gallery are cheering Members on the floor who are giving fiery speeches in the dark.
One Representative said, “I am a Democrat, and here is my energy plan” and he held up a picture of an old VW Bug with a sail attached to it. This is reminiscent of what Obama and many other D’s have suggested: tune up your car, make sure your tires are inflated properly so you can get the best gas mileage possible; and bike and walk more. While I agree all of these things are good, it doesn’t really solve the high gas price problem does it?
It is times like this when I can only smile at the Dis-functional Congress. If I didn’t have a family birthday party I might head down there to the Gallery and watch it first hand.

UPDATE: The Mini-Protest has ended and now Republicans have adjourned for a month as well. Happy Vacation Folks.
