I work in a relatively small office; there are only about 30 of us. At the end of 2007 we merged with another association. Much of the integration happened in the last few months of 2007 when I was in Texas. So, it took me a while to get to know the names and faces of all the new people.
So today (roughly one year and 3 months after we merged) I receive an email sent to all staff from Phyllis that says, “Cookies are in the Kitchen. Enjoy”.
Well All Staff emails can only be sent by people who work here, which means, Phyllis works here. So I call my colleague and say, “Who the hell is Phyllis?” Apparently Phyllis is so-and-so’s admin and sits on the other side of the building. Is she a new hire? No! She has been here since the merger (15 months).
Scary isn’t it.
